We had a great Sunday with the Sinatra ’62 Sextet at Ronnie Scotts, led by musical director James (Jim) Treweek at the Piano.
This is quite a special gig, recreating the tour of Europe that Sinatra took in 1962 with a sextet of piano, bass, drums, guitar, saxophone and vibraphone.
This band was quite special with the superb authenticity of Frank Cognoscenti on vocals, Mitch Dalton on guitar, Alec Dankworth on Bass, Elliot Henshaw on drums, Mike Coates on Sax’ and Steffan Ciccotti on vibes.
The amazing band “Spice Fusion” has released a second album and I’m very proud to be involved playing piano and keyboards on many of the tracks.
This band includes many of the UK’s finest session musicians and the final product is a wonderful example of expert arranging, playing and recording.
If you get a chance to see this band live, do!
The second album “Trying Hard 2” features Capital Voices, Andy Snitzer, David Benoit, Wayne Hernandez, Julie Maguire, Damien Flood, Miranda Wilford and Angie Brown.
Here’s a “behind the scenes” clip of “Capital Voices” recording their harmonies on Spain.
